Wolverton Community Vision 2010

What’s been achieved since 2002/3?

Since the original Vision was developed back in 2002/3 many things have changed in Wolverton:

The Town Hall and Library have been relocated from their former site on Cambridge Street to a prominent and important building on Creed Street owned by the Town Council

A new Station building for Wolverton has been designed and money secured to make it happen - work is expected to start in April 2010.

Wolverton Park has been developed, opening up the canal to the whole of the Town and providing housing (and leisure opportunities)

Plans for a new health centre and swimming pool at the Radcliffe School end of Wolverton are in development and moving forward.

Wolverton Farmers Market has been operating for 5 years and now runs twice a month offering an alternative shopping experience to residents from the area and beyond.

Wolverton & Greenleys Britain in Bloom Group has been established and has worked to improve the environment of the area, winning medals in the national Britain in Bloom competition.

The "Urb Farm" has been created off Marron Lane as a place to grow local food for local people.

The Neighbourhood Action Group and Neighbourhood Policing Team have been established and are working on community safety issues across the area.

The Bloomer (a replica railway engine made by apprentices at the Railway Works) has been secured for Wolverton and will be on display soon.

The Transition Wolverton Group has been set up and is working on environmental initiatives, such as energy saving and local food production.

The Electric Picture Palace Group are well on their way to developing an independent cinema in the Town
